The academic program of Information Technology & Engineering at the University of Canberra is seeking highly motivated, innovative individuals with an excellent track record to fill three positions to strengthen our teaching and research program.

These positions are aimed at the early to mid-career level academic. Assistant Professor positions at the University of Canberra (UC), Canberra, Australia are full-time, contingent-continuous positions with an initial 7-year contract, which is converted into an ongoing contract upon promotion to the Associate Professor level (http://www.canberra.edu.au/about-uc/work-at-uc/benefits). The Assistant Professor band at UC is a combination of the traditional Australian academic levels B (Lecturer) and C (Senior Lecturer) and provides fast-tracked progression for outstanding applicants. The Assistant Professor level is akin to a tenure-track position in the US system.

Successful applicants will join the Human-Centred Technology Research Centre (http://staff.estem-uc.edu.au/hcci/), which closely collaborates with the UC Health Research Institute and the UC Research Institute for Sport and Exercise. Our research focus lies at the intersection of pattern recognition, HCI/HRI/HMI, multimodal signal processing, data analytics, machine learning, computer vision, image analysis, speech processing, affective computing, bioinformatics, wireless sensors, and networked systems, with an application focus on health, sport and security technologies. Opportunities for supervision of PhD and Masters by Research students exist. Successful applicants are expected to make a strong contribution to the research culture at the HCT Research Centre.

Successful applicants are expected to strongly contribute to the teaching program across a range of subjects in our undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as carry out high-quality, collaborative research strengthening our research profile and leading to publications in high-quality journals and conferences, external research funding and research commercialisation. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in inter-disciplinary research that fits with the HCT Research Centre’s strategic focus. Documented success of publishing in high-quality journals and conferences as well as in obtaining external research funding are desired. Collaborations with national and international leading researchers are strongly encouraged.

Position level: Assistant Professor (Academic Level B/C), Salary Range $94,451 – $127,865 p.a. commensurate with experience, plus 17% Superannuation
